F9 “breaks US coronavirus pandemic record for box office record of US$70 million in an opening weekend.

F9

Key Sentence:

  • F9, the ninth film in the franchise Fast and the Furious.
  • Set a new record from the era of the coronavirus pandemic after winning $70 million in the film’s first weekend in the United States.

The ninth movie in the Quick and the Furious series is the most successful weekend opening film since the start of the global health crisis of Covid-19. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film — which stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto — grossed $400 million worldwide over the weekend as theaters opened worldwide.

“F9” approaches “A Quiet Place Part II” – starring Killian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and John Krasinski – which previously held the pandemic-era record after winning $57.1 million in the film’s first weekend. The film, which stars Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyris Gibson, Charlize Theron, and Lady Helen Mirren, is also the biggest in-house opening since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019.

F9 is not expected to reach the peak of its predecessor over the weekend as audience numbers have not returned to pre-Covid levels and the Canadian box office, which is part of North American sales, is still almost entirely shut. Early in the Fast series, F9 had a slight edge over Hobbs & Shaw’s 2019 Spinofa, which grossed $60 million and ended up in theaters with $173 million in the US and $759 million worldwide.

The previous main series of 2017 was The Fate of the Furious, which opened for $98 million and grossed $226 million in North America and $1.2 billion worldwide. 2015 record Furious 7 is a high-profile franchise with a whopping $147.2 million in its first three days of release, en route to $353 million at the local box office and 1.5 billion dollars worldwide.

He said, “Every story deserves an ending.

“I know people will feel like it doesn’t have to end, but I think all good things have to complete. “There’s a reason for the final. I think this franchise deserves it.” Director Justin Lynn, who will direct the final two films, added: “We met, and Vin said, ‘I think we need to think about ending this story now.’

“Nine [‘F9’] is something like the first film of the last chapter. “We’re restructuring everything, so the next two films complete this incredible journey for these characters.”
