A new trailer for the first part of “Dune,” the epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 science fiction novel of the same name with Timothy Shalamet and Zendaya, has been released. With its stunning images in the desert, the trailer shows Chani (Zendaya), a member of the indigenous population of Fremen on the desert planet Arrakis (Dune), speaking about the oppression of his people.
But the trailer doesn’t forget to hint at the romance between its two young stars – Chalamet and Zendaya. The former’s Paul Atreides tells his mentor Duncan (Jason Momoa): “I had a dream about a girl in Arakis. I don’t know what it means.” The trailer also shows a shot of Paul and Channy kissing passionately.
The plot is dense but relates to the invaders’ observations of Arrakis, as they are the single source of the universe’s most precious substance, Melange (or spice), which carries special abilities: extension of human life, superhuman level of thinking, and Speed of Efficiency – easier journey.
The noble houses that rule the galaxy in Esca of Game of Thrones and the medieval political system compete for control of Melange’s bid and ignore the plight of the Freemasons. Paul and his father, Duke Leto (Oscar Isaac), are among the nobles who want to profit for Melange but face giant sandworms and their rivalry with the House of Harkonnen.
Apart from Chalamet, Zendaya, Isaac, and Momoa, this film has a wide cast: Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Chang Chen, and many others.
Dune is helmed by Denis Villeneuve, who previously worked on Blade Runner 2049. The movie was initially registered to hit theaters on November 20, 2020, but was pushed back to December 18, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dune will finally be available to theaters and HBO Max for 31 days on October 22
